Sony will hold news conference regarding PSN breach

Sony's Kaz Hirai will brief media on Sunday about the Playstation Network security breach. This will be the first time a Sony executive will face the public concerning this case, which could end up in legal actions against the Japanese electronics giant.

It has been announced that Hirai will hold a news conference on Sunday at 2:00 pm and on this meeting he will be discussing Sony's investigation of the case, its information management system and a more detailed schedule on when the PSN will resume services.

At this point is very much damage control for the company, who has been criticized the last couple of weeks for a lack of timely communication with its customer base. In the United States, the attorney general has started to investigate the matter or reviewing it with staff in several states, and one of the chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee has sent a personal letter to Hirai asking why communications were delayed.

In Britain, a government entity has also started an official investigation on the matter

This all comes after a late disclosure from Sony of one of the biggest ever online data theft that has put in risk personal and financial information of 70 million Playstation Network users worldwide. We will be bringing you more details when the actual news conference takes place, in the meantime, you can share your thoughts by leaving a comment below
