Ilomilo Review

Thursday, 06 January 2011 22:32 Published in Reviews

At its root, ilomilo is simply a puzzle game. Each level is composed of purposely organized rows and stacks of cubes that must be traversed between two characters to have them reunited. At its heart, however, ilomilo is an adorably pleasant game centered on equally cute protagonists. ilo and milo are the best of friends, and reuniting them is your task as the player. Although the storyline is thin at its core, that simplicity is perfectly suited to the nature of the game.

Batman: Arkham City Preview

Tuesday, 28 December 2010 13:59 Published in Coming Soon

To start, this game is a sequel to the action-adventure game Batman: Arkham Asylum based on DC's comics Batman that was distributed for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC platfoms. Arkham city is very much like its predecessor: an action game that incorporates new elements such as stealth capabilities and predator tactics.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Preview

Sunday, 26 December 2010 23:29 Published in Coming Soon

The MMO world is volatile and rapidly changing in North America. Throughout 2010 we saw the continuation of the rise of free to play and the disintegration of the traditional subscription model. Games such as APB went bust while others like Final Fantasy XIV were rushed out the door with poor results. Everyone likes to theorize about what the next big thing might be, and as of now Bioware's Star Wars: The Old Republic has a lot of momentum.

Metal Gear Solid: Rising Preview

Thursday, 23 December 2010 10:27 Published in Coming Soon

You always know something exciting is about to happen when Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima takes the stage. He did so to great applause at Microsoft’s 2010 E3 press conference, but he unfortunately didn’t spend much time in front of the audience. He did, however, state that what he was there to show was something new and unique. Kojima also mentioned that just as Metal Gear hero Snake passed the torch to the androgynous Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 2, Kojima would now defer to Metal Gear Solid: Rising producer Shigenobu Matsuyama. And with that, Matsuyama took the stage and introduced an intriguing new trailer for Metal Gear Solid: Rising, the upcoming action game featuring a part-cyborg Raiden slicing up some of the freakiest automatons you’ve seen this side of those mooing gekkos from Metal Gear Solid 4.

Review : Mass Effect 2

Friday, 04 June 2010 11:21 Published in Reviews

Mass Effect is one of my favorite games of the past decade. Despite its technical shortcomings, BioWare's first in what it promised to be a trilogy took the role-playing genre to new cinematic heights. Mass Effect 2 is a better game in near every way. From the very first scene, you will be hooked. And the farther you dive into this epic action role-playing game, the better it gets. It fulfills the promise of its predecessor while continuing to push the boundaries of what we should expect in a videogame.

Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare Review

Wednesday, 27 October 2010 15:18 Published in Reviews

If, like me, you were waiting for more things to accomplish as John Marston, you shouldn't hesitate to pick up Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare. Rockstar's latest downloadable content for Red Dead is very obviously a love letter to B-movie horror flicks with a touch of fantasy added for good measure. It's unapologetically campy, and that is what makes it so special. Whereas Red Dead Redemption was a serious story in a serious landscape during serious times, Undead Nightmare twists the formerly grave game into something much more lighthearted.

Tron: Evolution Review

Friday, 26 November 2010 20:02 Published in Reviews
The original TRON was a movie far ahead of its time. Considering the movie was released in 1982, the special effects and production values were absolutely mind blowing, and the film has aged surprisingly well. The anticipated sequel TRON: Legacy hits theatres next month, but in the meantime we have TRON: Evolution to keep ourselves occupied. The game isn’t exactly a adaptation of TRON: Legacy, instead it’s a standalone adventure that ties the two movies together.
